Five chefs, four event managers, three chalets and more aircraft than we could count, Farnborough Air show was a week of air displays, food, drink and clientele.  Lime had three chalets to look after, Trelleborg, RTI and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, each requiring different catering services for up to sixty guests per day.

We provided two course fine dining, cold buffet lunches, hot curries, plated desserts and full afternoon tea.  We ran cocktail bars, tea and coffee stations and wine and beer service.  Working in kitchens at the back of the chalets our chef’s served an array of cuisine including – Red Lentil and Vegetable Dhal, Skewers of Tarragon Chicken marinated in Honey and Lemon and wrapped in Parma Ham, Rack of Lamb on Wilted Greens, Pee Puree and Morel Sauce.  Our dessert offering included Orange and Thyme Crème Brulee with a Granny Apple Granita which most guests had two of!

It was a fantastic week for all involved, serving lunch with the Vulcan Bomber overhead or pouring coffee whilst the Airbus 380 flew past was quite an experience!

Working in a beautiful boutique was an unusual venue that worked fantastically.  With space for a champagne bar, canapé service and a tower of shoe cupcakes it was the perfect ladies networking event.  We love different and fun ideas, so if you have a shoe themed event coming up, Lime Food Design can help you plan your party to perfection.

It always excites me when someone creates a new look, be it colour scheme, table decoration or name place, especially when Lime can then use thier creative juices and come up some ideas to tailor the catering on and off the plate.

This bride had a colour scheme of navy blue and bright pink, it sounds quite bright but worked brilliantly in the reception barn. Inidan touches such as blue and pink elephants as name places and the girls favours were bright metal bangles. It really had the wow factor…

The Danes however left their mark with a fabulous Danish wedding cake, featured here by Guy who assembled the tower.  A Danish song,  favours of lego men as well as plenty of Aquavit left a fun and unique memory of the day.

When picking a starter, many people glance over the soups as they think, that when catering for a party or wedding, soup just isn’t special enough. We recently catered for a wedding at The Walled Gardens, Cowdry, Midhurst and the starter was a fabulous trio of soups. Catering for all tastes on offer was a cold, spicy Gazpacho a warming Roasted butternut squash and a funky Pea soup with a coconut froth.  All lovingly topped and nestled on a vintage style plate with a dainty flower it was certainly anything but dull.

Fishbourne Roman Palace is a great venue for parties, exhibitions, meetings and conferences.  Surrounded by Roman gardens and al fresco dining areas, the space reflects a feeling of serenity and calmness.  The Palace has Britain’s largest assortment of in-situ mosaic floors and there are no end of interesting educational facts to keep your guests intrigued.

Lime Food Design run the café at Fishbourne Roman Palace which can be hired exclusively for lunch or dinners.  The space within the palace offers an adaptable venue where guests can almost blend into the features.  As well as the café and the exhibition space, the Palace provides adequate space for a marquee, individual classrooms and a fantastic experience for all whom visit.

Queen Elizabeth Country Park is the largest park in Hampshire and boasts beautiful scenic views, undisturbed country park and the perfect location for events.  Ideal for a long walk in the country air after a long meeting, or you could have a marquee surrounded by fairy lights in the woodland.

My personal favourite is 1940’s and 50’s and some ides of what catering would suit can be found below…

1940’s tea parties have been a trend this year, 2010, and we predict to carry on in 2011. We stock our own tea party sets so can be a very cost effective option. Teamed up with English country flowers and some pretty bunting it is a lovley look for a marquee or barn venue.

1950’s food ideas have actually never gone away, the favourites of fish and chips and pie and mash have been in the offering for those that would like more informal catering . You can add a few touches such as, using a vodka, beer and honey batter and minted mushy peas, but the overall effect is tasty, filling food that everyone will love!

For those that want a the rockabilly wedding or party we can offer a catering service that has the flexibility to meet your requirements as well as helping source, hair and make up, cars (how about 1949 Chevrolet Fleetline), and even bands. 

Other ways of bringing a bit of vintage to your party or even a hen party is, hair tutorials and styling, pin up photo shoot, all whilst drinking some choice cocktails of the time.
